Today’s Find Your Flow message is about paying attention to what you’re feeding your system.
While something you’re feeling or going through may deserve and require your attention, it often does not need your entire energy.
My mentor said something to me today that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about:
He said, “allow this to be a signal, not your nourishment.”
We were talking about nervousness, but I immediately realized how much bigger the idea was.
It’s okay for something to affect you. You don’t have to pretend you’re not nervous, disappointed, afraid, uncertain or unsettled by something happening in your life.
It fact, I believe the more your build your awareness, the more growth you experience. It can be somewhat counterintuitive. You’re not being “negative”, you’re being intentional. And, growth comes from seeing the larger perspective and not getting caught up in the emotional and mental.
While thoughts and feelings can be useful—remind yourself, they’re not the whole picture—especially when you find yourself reactive, judgmental and tense. Nervousness can tell you something matters. Fear can show you where you don’t yet feel safe. Disappointment can reveal what you were hoping for. Uncertainty can simply mean you’re in a season where you don’t have all the answers yet.
The feeling itself isn’t necessarily the problem. The problem is when you start overeating on it to provide a false sense of comfort and control.
When nervousness becomes the thing your body is consuming all day. When one uncertain thought becomes the story you keep returning to. When someone else’s opinion starts carrying more weight than your own knowing. When fear stops giving you information and starts becoming the environment you live inside. These have become more than the required signals, and now require a larger shift in awareness, discipline and knowing.
I think most of us are much more unconscious about this than we realize. We pay attention to what we eat because we often understand that what we repeatedly put into our bodies affects how we feel, but we don’t always think about the other things we consume in the same way.
The thoughts you repeat. The conversations you replay. The opinions you absorb. The information you take in all day. The stories you keep telling yourself about what something means.
Your system is taking all of that in too.
So it’s your job to decide what is actual nourishment for your life, body, mind and spirit, and what is potentially draining and consuming more energy than necessary.

Remember, it’s your consistent habits that shape you who are.
I invite you to reflect on these questions today:
What have I been feeding my system lately?
Is it actually helping me feel the way I want to feel?
Is it moving me in the direction I’d love to go?
Where have I been feeding my system something that’s no longer serving me?
What am I ready to let go of?
Every big shift starts with one simple intention at a time.
With love,
Laurin
