Wherever this email finds you today, I invite you to take a moment for a few deep conscious breaths.
Exhale Focused Breathing— A Conscious Breath Pattern to Calm Your Nervous System: If you’re comfortable you can read the instructions and close your eyes as well.
1. Inhale through your nose for a count of 4 (if you don’t like counting just take a focused deep inhale),hold your breath for a moment and exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of 6 (or a little longer than your inhale). Repeat 2 times.
2. Now, take another slow inhale through your nose, hold for a moment and exhale slowly through your nose. Repeat 2 times
3. Inhale through your nose, hold your breath for a moment and exhale slowly through your mouth again. Repeat at least two times
4. With your eyes closed go on a journey for a few minutes wherever your mind or body takes you. Notice the sensations in your body. Notice the quality of your breath. Notice if you start yawning and releasing energy. Take a few minutes to give yourself the gift or releasing, cleansing and filling up.
5. With a final deep breath, place your hands on your heart. What are you grateful for? How would you love to show up for yourself today?
If you’re in the United States you may be celebrating the 4th of July today.
Either way, holidays, vacations, family time, celebrations and accomplishments can be a great time to check-in with yourself.
- How present are you every day?
- How are you showing up for yourself?
- Do you move quickly through your days?
- Do you find meaning and fulfillment in each day?
- Do you get caught up being busy or are you able to stay intentional?
- Do you say yes to other people’s agendas more than what’s meaningful for you?
It doesn’t mean you’re building, inspired or ‘on’ 24/7, it means you’ve developed a consistency around managing your perceptions and a way of being with yourself that’s grounded, loving and purposeful.
The most helpful thing one of my mentors said once was, “imagine you’re a business. You are an entity. Would someone invest in you? Are you consistent? Can someone see and feel what you represent?”

I believe how I show up for myself is my number 1 priority. Focusing on my highest values, connecting them to any area of life where I want to improve or be consistent comes first. After that, creating what you desire can come much more effortlessly.
Managing ourselves, how present we are, our ability to take care of ourselves, how we tap into our inspiration is a worthwhile and wise pursuit. It requires discipline, practice, love, clarity and focus.
Here’s to you celebrating your commitment and desires for yourself today along with anything else you may be doing.
Happy 4th!
Love,
Laurin
