Do you ever find yourself people-pleasing without even knowing it?
Trying so hard to make things work for someone else at your expense: emotionally, physically, mentally, soulfully and energetically?
I found myself doing this for a few days and I kept saying to myself, “it’s ok, it’s not a big deal, I can make it work” until it was a big deal. As someone who likes to keep the peace and make people happy, I didn’t realize the toll it was taking on me and my daughter. I was getting burnt out and not as present.

I started to realize I couldn’t settle anymore. I had to commit to a handful of new actions that would allow me to make a serious shift so I can stop this pattern and surround myself with people that I truly respect, admire and have a mutual flow with.
Of course there can be dozens of reasons why to settle and keep making things work, but sometimes it’s time to outgrow that pattern.
Stop saying yes when you already know you really want to say no.
Or vice versa.
Be willing to say yes even when it’s challenging or logistically hard. Maybe you have dozens of reasons why it doesn’t ‘make sense’, but you still have that knowing it’s good for you, those are the times to figure it out.
There are different types of challenges and the ones that inspire you and help you grow…those are the ones worth waiting for and diving into.
Leave the ones where you’re uninspired, overwhelmed and losing a piece of yourself behind.
You may want to ask yourself:
- What are some things you’re tolerating that are no longer working for you?
- Sit with how you feel when you say no to someone else or they try to get you to change your mind.
- Sometimes it feels as though you need to defend who you are or your choices–what if you kept remembering that you don’t? Who you are is perfect for you.
- What do you need to shift to truly step into what you would love to have/create instead?
- How could you be even more comfortable with yourself and your desires?
These are some questions that have helped me further my commitment and clarity into something I’m creating that’s much healthier for myself and my daughter and I’d rather take on this challenge than feel depleted and distressed.
I can’t wait to hear from you…What are you consciously shifting and creating for yourself?
Love,
Laurin
