Have you ever put aside your self-care practice and things you know work for you because..
This may be because:
- You get busy and overwhelmed
- Take on additional responsibilities
- Take on other people’s energies
- Appreciate the comfort that comes from avoidance (even if not fully conscious)
- Try to sit still but have difficulty tuning into yourself
- Filled with expectations about how things should be
- Trying so hard to keep things together or hold your “perfect” pictures
We’re still in the first month of the year and yet I see over and over again people feeling overwhelmed. Especially energetically.
If you tend to be sensitive like me, it’s even more important to check in with yourself and do your active meditations to clear your space and get back to yourself.
For me, meditation isn’t about getting to some quiet place, it’s about getting to know yourself.
Being willing to move from judgment, self-doubt, agitation and a reactive state that’s threatening to your survival and creating imbalances hormonally in your nervous system to a state of curiosity, possibility, relaxation and reset so you can get back to balance and connection.
While we may judge ourselves when we feel “off”, I invite you to embrace the journey of choosing yourself over and over again.
We’ll never be “perfect” or connected all the time. In fact, that’s not even the goal.
The goal is to gain awareness.
More consciously practice and CHOOSE how to realign.
Gather and sort through what works for you and what doesn’t.
Settle into your body and allow it to help guide you back to connection.
Questions can also be helpful for moving from a cycle of disconnection to connection.
What was going on for you that allowed you to merge with someone else?
Why did you feel a deeper need consciously or unconsciously to take responsibility for someone else?
I often hear people say, “I should do more.”
A lot of people’s resolutions seem to have lost some steam.
This is why I much prefer an intention to do our best to reconnect, rather than just be hyper-focused on achieving.
We can have both, but the level of fulfillment and self-growth and connection that accompanies connection is much deeper and longer-lasting. It also allows for ease and things to work out even better than you could imagine or create mentally.
We’re either connected or disconnected.
When it comes down to being as simple as that, we can notice with interest what’s going on in our space. Who may be present energetically (potentially physically as well) in your space?
Here’s a short video for you to watch as a reminder of why it is so important to choose connection.
Enjoy!
xx, Laurin
