I felt like that Taylor Swift song the other morning: “I’m the problem, it’s me.”
Everything seemed to be overwhelming and felt like it was going wrong. I felt depressed, lacked energy and had a hard time being in my light.
I could rationalize it of course (just like we always can).
‘You haven’t been sleeping enough, you just have so much going on. Just take time out to rest.’ And, while that’s accurate.
I’ve come to really value choice.
What I mean by that is I love to choose a new way of being. I love to consciously choose to gain clarity, ease and to be in my flow. Once I’ve balanced my emotions and thoughts, I find new perspectives and possibilities available to me in just a few moments or a few hours.
What I find interesting is how much can change without any circumstances needing to change.
Yes, more rest will be great, but it’s not a factor in my growth, mindset and possibilities.
I used to struggle with putting myself out there and wanting everything to be perfect. It’s amazing how easy it can be to be hard on ourselves and invalidate who we are.
Today I’m sharing a few tips I like to focus on when I find myself disconnected and struggling.
Whether it’s struggling with feeling unsupported and feeling like a child who just wishes someone would come rescue me and help more. Whether it’s wishing I could physically appear younger, more put together and fit in the box of my expectations and ideal me (an impossible picture of my 24 year old skin, 34 year old body and 42 year old mind and practices.) Or whether it’s everything on your plate that sometimes just feels like too much in a moment.
This may or may not be your reality but we all have some perfect pictures in our space that are helpful to know what they are so they can’t keep us stuck.
Moving from perfectionism and a fear of vulnerability to stepping into choice, love, grace and ease through acceptance and validation.
Acceptance of what is.
Validation for who you are that comes from you first, and then the physical manifestations catch up.
5 Steps to help you step into the light and essence of who you are: (Helpful resources at the end)
1. Allow for Possibility
Concept: What if things could work out even better than you could imagine? Rather than getting stuck on what that could look like, the invitation here is to focus on your connection and certainty. Certainty that with a new vibration anything is possible. And if you hold the energy and own what you want, it can and will be created.
Practical how-to: Grounding meditations can be really helpful here. Connecting your crown chakra-yourself as a spiritual being with your physical body. Allowing this bridge to help guide you more than the fear or doubts.
2. Keep Being Authentically You
Concept: Even when it feels challenging to show up authentically, remember, challenges are feedback that you can use to find your flow and come back to yourself.
Allow chaos, distress, being scattered to invite you to stop and pay attention.
What is and what isn’t working?
What do you need for yourself?
When you call in feedback (this can be in one or many areas of your life) it’s showing you where you’re disconnected from your highest values, where you’re not owning yourself energetically and where you’re caught up in some old patterns.
Practical how-to: Energetic separation tools, body scanning, refine and focus on your highest values to come back to yourself again.
3. Give Yourself Space
Concept: Before diving into action, to-do’s and feeling bogged down, how can you find yourself?
It can be easy to rush into doing. I invite you to connect to your being first which allows you to feel and be with yourself.
When you slow down is where you create space to be even more efficient. When I feel rushed and want to do a ‘good job’ with something is when this becomes even more important to do.
For example, if I have an hour and think a project will take me an hour, even if I take 15 minutes to meditate and connect first and give myself a moment to let it all go. Even if I don’t get to this task– I will be ok. After feeling all my feelings and allowing space for thoughts to come in, I come back to my heart of what I’d love. Then, what feels like all of a sudden I’m inspired to take action, and I create from my flow with so much ease.
The time I paused was well spent. I find on the flip side, I could use the whole hour from a stressed state and still not be satisfied with the result and not feel connected while creating it.
When something feels like you need to or have to do something–this is a big clue it’s time to slow down and refocus.
Practical how-to:
1. Sit with yourself and own your energetic space first. Imagine calling all your energy back to yourself and letting go of anyone’s energy, judgments and opinions that get stuck in your aura, energy and body.
2. Notice, what feels like a need to or have to get done in your space, mind and body?
3. What emotions, thoughts, sensations are present when you think about this need? What if it didn’t get done? Where does that tension live? Be with each sensation, feeling, thought one at a time. Allow it space to have presence without needing to change it. This acceptance in a moment allows it to authentically shift.
4. Move to your heart center and connect to what you’d love. Say that slowly to yourself a few times.
5. Is this heartfelt desire connected to what you began this process with? If not, how could you link your desired action step to what you’d love?
6. Feel this desire flowing through your body with ease. If it gets stuck anywhere be with that, go around it and find flow until it moves.
7. Allow your light to move through you. Warm, nourishing golden sunlight–your own information and knowing–to move through you.
8. What are you connected to and inspired to now?
When I start with this process rather than a to-do, it’s so much easier to take action. Whether it’s a work project, going to the gym or paying bills.
Your mind can see possibilities of which tasks to do and how to prioritize.
4. Lean in
Concept: Lean into being with resistance, avoidance, doubts and fears. It may seem counterintuitive, but the more discomfort you learn how to be with, the more comfortable it gets. The more comfortable it gets, the more space you have to grow and be you. The more you can be yourself, the less you focus on other people. And, the less chaos, distractions and low vibes you need to attract to help you to grow.
Practical How-to: Body scanning, understanding chakras and where blocks are occurring, choosing what you’d love from the above process, Values alignment.
5. Choose Accountability
Concept: When we take accountability within ourselves, we don’t need the outside world to force us into it. Where are you being called to grow in this season of your life? How can you embrace it even more fully?
Life is a journey and we are always going to be changing and moving
The question is – are you willing and ready to say yes to your continued growth and expansion?
Practical How-to: Journaling. Self-reflection. Understanding your patterns and fears and where you tend to be ungrounded, attached to others or disassociate.
The more you take time to focus on each of these steps above—the more you allow for presence and gratitude of the divine perfection of your moment and season of life.
