Today’s find your flow is about expectations.
There are 2 definitions of this word, and their differences are important to note.
- A strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future.
- A belief that someone will or should achieve or do something whether for themselves or for you. .
You may have heard Tony Robbins say “trade your expectations for appreciation and your whole world will change in an instant”. This may be accurate for the second kind of expectations. We will never win the game of trying to control or judge someone else and their choices.
What I’m starting to find is internally guided expectations are actually key to shaping who you become, and play a critical role in helping you expand.
These are expectations that are actually desires, dreams and knowings.
They’re also helping set a standard that you aren’t willing to waiver from. Not because of being controlling or rigid, rather it’s about being so committed and congruent to who you are as a being these expectations just make sense. Even if you can’t fully explain it all logically.
These are expectations that give you pause in settling. They’re a part of your inner compass tapped into your knowing. They help guide you back to your truest essence when times are challenging.
These expectations shouldn’t be traded or ignored, they should be followed.
Expectations and desires about how you’d love your life to be are a gift that lead you to your destiny.
They call you to step into the most inspired, vital, vibrant and clear version of yourself.
These expectations are a part of your blueprint of who you are.
They help you remember who you are. They help you course correct. As one of my mentors told me yesterday, they are in fact “instrumental not detrimental.”
Today, I’m encouraging you to reflect:
- What are your highest expectations for yourself?
- Where can you not tolerate settling or minimizing who you are?
- Where do you tend to be consistent with your everyday actions?
- What does the healthiest, most productive, most connected and aligned version of you look like?
This is your definition of success that starts with who you are as a being first. Then, you’re able to expand into mastery and other forms of success as well.

Contrary to popular desire, it doesn’t have to come from achieving first then finding out what’s most important to you.
This requires being willing to step outside of survival mode if you’ve been struggling and as an observer catch yourself into glimpses of your dreaming. Expectations you hold that even though maybe you can’t explain them, you truly believe and are on the path of creating your vision for yourself and those around you. This is very different from fantasies. These show evidence of coming true. It’s what those that really see you know for you as well.
Pay attention to your ways of being that you can’t let go of no matter how disconnected you may become or may feel at times—and how you’re led back to you at your core. Every. Single. Time.–if you’re willing.
Finding your flow isn’t just about a flow state to achieve an outcome, it’s a way of being to help you tap into your most calm, easeful and successful way of being so that you can create and manifest all you desire.
Love to hear what you discover.
Love,
Laurin
